SEEC PROJECT PURPOSE

The purpose of the Scarborough Estuarine Ecosystem Curriculum Project is to design, develop, implement, and share a K-12 curriculum resource focusing on the watershed that includes the Scarborough marsh.  It will provide learners as they progress through their K-12 education and beyond, an increasingly sophisticated understanding of the watershed and its relationship to their community. Learners will develop this greater understanding through progressive authentic, integrative, community-based investigations where various points of view on issues are made known. They will learn to make informed, responsible decisions, becoming "integrative and informed thinkers" and "responsible and involved citizens" as stated in The State of Maine Learning Results

 SEEC PROJECT GOALS

Teachers, community members, and research professionals will work together designing and implementing investigations relevant to the community.

An on-line educational environment that augments the hands-on learning experiences that take place in the watershed, provides access to data and information, and supports a wide community of learners will be developed and maintained.
